One
of New Zealand's leading winegrowers, CJ Pask Winery
is based in the Hawke's Bay region, with vineyards in
the renowned Gimblett Gravels viticultural area. Established
in 1985 by Chris Pask, with vineyard holdings of 220
acres, CJ Pask Winery has established itself over almost
twenty years as the pre-eminent producer of merlot and
merlot-based red wine blends in this country. Consistent
critical praise and competition success here and in
the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada have emphasised
the skill, passion and dedication of the people behind
the wines. Winning the International Wine Challenge
(London) Bordeaux and Cabernet Merlot Trophy in 2000
was an appropriate recognition of those attributes as
well as serving notice on the world that New Zealand
is now producing truly exceptional red.
CJ Pask Roy’s Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2004
Affectionately named after the well-known Hawke's Bay
landmark that overlooks the vineyards. Pale straw colour
with green hues. herbaceous on the nose with ripe gooseberry.
A lively, fresh Sauvignon Blanc with typical varietal
character. Fresh grassy flavours combine with ripe,
tropical fruit - providing a broad spectrum of flavours.
CJ Pask Gimblett Road Merlot 2002
Sourced exclusively from estate grown vineyards on the
Gimblett Gravels, this superb wines delivers the ripe
taste of the Hawke’s Bay region. Full-flavoured,
full-bodied, with an emphasis on ripe fruit. The 2002
vintage was characterised by the regular, early and
mid season rainfall promoting strong growing conditions
A soft, generous and rich Merlot with well-integrated
oak character, soft rounded textures and well-integrated
tannin structure, ready now, but will become more complex
with several years age.
